GREEN IS GOLD proudly invites you to the City Link Festival in Hamburg from the 5 – 14 of September 2014. City Link is a co-creating network of artists, activists, cultural entrepreneurs, researchers and people with ideas that link cities. Since 2012 City Link has held an annual festival to celebrate these collaborations and this year. GREEN IS GOLD will be participating showing works by Asle Lauvland Pettersen (N) and Sian Kristoffersen (DK).

Asle Lauvland Pettersen (b. 1978) is a Norwegian artist, director and theatre scenographer. He graduated from The National Academy of Arts, Oslo and Royal Danish Theatre Academy, Copenhagen. His work consists of conceptual, fundamental installations with a special insight into video. It is a practice where video, objects and performances are often combined with an expression of almost dogmatic conceptual ideas. An equal amount of technology, and an almost naive aesthetic, provides his work with a tempting surface, but as the layers are deconstructed more universes and questions emerge, which encourage the audience to respond and react to. Concepts of existentialism and ecological philosophy are often found to be important elements of Petersen’s work.

Sian Kristoffersen (b.1969) is a Danish artist working in a broad variety of media with a spotlight on object based installations and photography. The subject matter is a combination of the historical with a keen focus on issues of fiction/non-fiction, gender and the theatrical. Kristoffersen's work often explores lush and seductive surfaces whilst dealing with the high drama of existential conflict and desire as well as themes of identity and representation. Staging is highly important and within her exhibitions there are often many different elements which relate to one another in the making of a united whole. Kristoffersen will present an installation for City-Links based on the colour red. It will consist of acrylic glass, objects, textile, wood, photography, text and a flower.

The exhibition will be held at Gallery Speckstrasse, Speckstrasse 82 – 84, 20355 Hamburg.
