GREEN IS GOLD is a Copenhagen based, non-profit, exhibition space and arts organisation run by Danish artists Amalie Bønnelycke Lunøe and Ditte Knus Tønnesen. The pair met whilst studying at the The Glasgow School of Art, Scotland in 2006. Upon returning to Denmark in 2009, they set up a studio in an old apartment space on Hyskenstræde in the city centre of Copenhagen. This in turn led to them opening the exhibition space, GREEN IS GOLD, as both a natural extension of their own art practices and a basis upon which to create opportunities for exhibiting pioneering contemporary visual art. Nearly six years and more than 35 projects later, GREEN IS GOLD became a nomadic organisation that focuses on curating and developing projects and exhibitions in a selection of varying venues both local and internationally.
GREEN IS GOLD STUDIO is constantly in a state of evolution and in 2012 a publishing house was added, from where artist books, print editions and the touch-book PUBLICATION is released.
We have devoted ourselves to other projects for an indefinite period.
