GREEN IS GOLD at Alt_Cph 2012
Kevin Malcolm (UK) & Keith Allan (UK)
At Alt_Cph 2012 the two artists Kevin Malcolm and Keith Allan propose to work together collaboratively for the first time using a wide range of found objects, industrial building and trade materials, fabrics, architectural elements and mixed media to create an ever growing and developing installation which sees one artist continue and adapt the other artist’s previous days processes and work.
The project will not be discussed by the two artists whilst generating the work and their only contact will be when deciding upon a working title for the installation, delivering their chosen materials to the exhibition space on the first day and during finalization of the installation on the final day. The days in between will see each artist work alone in the space with only knowledge of the materials present, the works title and the remnants of the previous days process to reference. It is also hoped that at times the public will step in to the role as performer as there are likely to be occasions when the artist will require assistance and a visitor is their only option. We feel this to be an intriguing form of collaboration that will thrive upon the adaptability and spontaneity of the two artists involved.
